#AskAwayFriday W/Penny From The Real Housewife of Caroline County

I am so happy to be a part of the 13th #AskAwayFriday!  This is my favorite time of the week.  I get to sit down and get to know another of my favorite Bloggers or even meet a brand new Blogger!  What better way to head into the weekend?

This week I am swapping questions with one of my #BloggerBFFs Penny from The Real Housewife Of Caroline County.  It’s hard to believe it has taken us this long to exchange but it’s always great to get to grill I mean get to know a friend a bit more.  Penny is an awesome Wife who is totally in love with her husband’s beard, a Stay At Home Mom who absolutely adores her two little girls and a Blogger who can Link, Hop and Support with the best.  If you want to know someone on the rise I suggest you get to know Penny – The Real Housewife of Caroline County

First, get to know me through Penny’s questions and then don’t forget to head over to Penny’s and find out her answers to my questions…I came up with some pretty good ones if I don’t say so myself..wait I guess I do say so!  LOL 😉

Question Time

1.  Do you think it’s better to get married when you’re young or better to wait a while?
I don’t think you can out a number to when a person is ready for marriage.  It all depends on their maturity level and when they know there are truly in love and ready to commit to being there for another person completely.  Age doesn’t necessarily determine that.
2.  Do you like to plan things out in detail or be spontaneous?
Oh. I plan. Plan. Plan.  Then I review the plan and plan a back up plan.  Spontaneity is something I have to plan for…LMBO!  It is truly something I have to work at which is know seems totally against the definition of the word but it just doesn’t come easy for me.  Hubby is great at it which is why we make a great partnership…he truly does complete me.
3.  What was your life like growing up?
My life was a bit confusing at times.  I was raised by my grandmother from infancy and in the church from the time I could remember.  I have 2 sisters who were raised by my mother.  This lead to a lot of confusion between us because I always felt feel like an only child with two close friends instead of an older sibling.  We work through it as best we can but I don’t think we can ever be as close as siblings who were raised in the same household with the same foundations and belief systems.
4.  Who in your life has influenced you the most? How did they do it?
My Grandmother has definitely been the biggest influence on my life.  She set me on my path and helped guide me in ways I am still discovering.  I’ve shared parts of my story growing up with her here, here and here.
5.  If you could learn one random skill, what would you learn?
I would really like to learn how to crochet.  My grandmother used to do it all the time and made blankets for my 2 older Kiddies.  unfortunately they were destroyed and she no longer crochets.  Now I truly wish I learned when I was younger and she was able to teach me.
6.  What’s the biggest personal change you ever made?
Probably marrying my Hubby.  I was 27 but everyone still saw me as their younger cousin, niece, granddaughter etc.  No one felt I was old enough (in their minds) to be anyone’s wife.  Still I knew in my heart that I was.  Almost 10 years later, I am glad I followed my heart.
7.  What did you do on your 16th birthday?
My older cousin gave me a surprise birthday party at my church.  Yup, it was after a church meeting or choir rehearsal of some sort.  It was really cool because I’d never had a true Birthday party but I was a bit frustrated because I felt EVERYthing was at my church.  LOL
8.  If you knew you would die tomorrow, would you feel cheated today?
Not at all.  I love God and have tried my best to give Him the best of me.  I married the love of my life and my bestestest friend in the world.  I have been given the honor of being the Mother to the best children ever (sorry folks I’m biased) and I have lived every moment with them to the fullest.  I am happy, blessed and content.
9.  What’s one of your favorite questions to ask new friends or to get a conversation going?
I’m not sure.  I am actually pretty shy and normally don’t initiate conversation.  I guess I just say “Hi, my name is…”
10. If someone were to make a movie about your life, who would you hope would play you?
Haha!  you can kinda refer back to a few of my past #AskAwayFriday posts for this one… Tia Mowry I feel we have the most similar quirks and personality traits and/or Alicia Keys because I am simply in love with her dramatic acting skills!
Don’t forget to head over to The Real Housewife of Caroline County to check out all the other great Bloggers who have Linked Up for this week’s #AskAwayFriday AND see how Penny answered my questions!

I didn't even realize you had 2 sisters! I learn something new everytime I stop through! I learned how to crochet long ago but it would be nice to get back into it and really actually make something this time around haha. The age thing that you mentioned about marriage is so true today. I think I said in a post once that getting married earlier on is ideal, but you are so right! The way our society is today so many younger people aren't ready younger. Prime example is my hubby. Had I known him too much earlier, he was not looking for a wife and wasn't ready for marriage. We married when he was 40! Crazy right? I know!

Yes! Both younger…and I also have a half brother who is older. Funny right? The reason I don’t speak on them much is because I was still raised pretty much as an only child. I always see them as really good friends. I try to make it more than that and we have gotten closer as we got older but we don’t share those childhood memories like most siblings so it can be difficult sometimes.

I just couldn’t stay interest in the crocheting back then but now I wish I did…especially since my grandmother doesn’t do it anymore and my Kiddies blankets were destroyed. Perhaps I can YouTube it 🙂

Yes, I definitely think being ‘ready’ for marriage is not number relevant but more a mindset. Always great to read your comments xoxoxo

My mom taught me how to crochet when I was younger but I don't remember. I'm sure I could pick it up again but I just don't have the time.
I love planning things out … as you well know {what OCD person doesn't} but I also would love to be more spontaneous at the same time!

Really? My grandmother and grandfather tried so hard to teach me. My grandfather even bought me books and VHS tutor tapes (yes I’m that old…LOL) but it just didn’t capture my attention. I don’t know about you but if something doesn’t peak my interest I just can’t get into it much less learn steps and processes. Now I wish I did.
Oh yes I know that my OCD plays a major role in my need to plan, surprises scare me..LOL I try to be spontaneous for my Hubby and Kiddies sake because I know my planning sometimes takes away from their fun…it’s a learning process for me for sure. 🙂

Great questions – and answers!! I could completely relate to your whole answer about being spontaneous! I am the very same way and my husband is so great at it! And I wish I could crochet as well!

I was seriously laughing out loud reading about whether or not you are spontaneous. Plan to make a plan, haha. I can teach ya how to crochet! It's not that hard. You can probably pick up a little booklet from the craft store or watch a video and teach yourself easily. You can make a lot of things with the most basic stitches. PS- Totally answered questions 10 for you in my head before reading the answer 😉

It’s so funny that everyone thought that was the funniest answer LOL I’m glad I have a laugh 😉 I try really hard to be spontaneous but I guess that kinda defeats the point huh? LMBO

I’m gonna look for a crochet book video or something. I’d really like to learn.

I KNOW!!! #10 is becoming my trademarked answer…LOL maybe is should find another actress? Nah! 😀

  • Mrs. AOK

I'm shy too! Blogging is huge for me and vlogging is enormous 🙂

You're grandma sounds like a beautiful strong woman, she did an amazing job!!
I'm deeply happy to have you as a friend!

    • MrsTee Post author

Blogging is actually not as hard. The written word has always come easiest to me but Vlogging is definitely a big accomplishment because I have to get past the idea of how many people may see it. I just imagine myself talking to y Hubby LOL.

Yes I owe a lot to my Grandmother and her determination to raise me right.

I definitely count your friendship as a Blessing. I can’t wait til your closer so we can set up a BloggerMeetUp 😉

I love your answers to the questions Tiffany! Especially the one about the biggest personal change. We know our family just want the best for us and they feel the need to protect us but sometimes we need to follow our heart and do what we feel is best for us. It's not like we are disrespecting them, it's about finding ourselves our own way.

    • MrsTee Post author

Exactly. They want the best but I knew I had to do what felt best in my heart. I had to realize I wasn’t being disrespectful I was actually respecting myself and giving myself the right to move past the little girl they saw me as. Thanks so much for coming by Jhanis 🙂

  • phenomenalmama

Hey Tiffany! Loved your answers so thought provoking and funny. . .you have to plan for spontaneity! LOL! Even though I read your blog and have seen so many personal posts, I still feel like I learn something new every time AskAwayFriday rolls around! Thanks for sharing! 😉

    • MrsTee Post author

Hey Tracie! Girl I stink at being spontaneous. I try so ‘E’ for Effort LOL 😉 Thanks for the support and coming by I truly appreciate it…I’m glad if I can bring a bit of laughter to your day 😀

  • ssgannett

Wow, this is wonderful and great questions! We actually have a couple of things in common. 🙂 While I wasn't actually raised at my grandma's, I was raised by my grandma…if that makes any sense! LOL! I am also very shy, and sometimes I struggle to talk to others face to face, because I think why would they want to talk to me…I think online is so much easier for me. Great to get to know you better and have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

    • MrsTee Post author

Wow! That’s cool! It’s definitely easier for me to loose my shyness through the written word than face to face. Perhaps being raised by our Grandmas has something to do with it…? Lol. I’m glad you could get to know me a bit better.

  • @mrs_chevalley

I agree with you on the dying tomorrow question, I've done some awesome things in my life so I wouldn't feel cheated except for not being there for my girls everyday. Thank you for all the love and I'm so happy we finally exchanged!!
