2 Daisies And A Leader: A Troop Thanksgiving…

TroopThanksgivingA

This past week, our Troop gathered together for our 2nd Annual Troop Thanksgiving Dinner. Throughout the year our Troop has many activities and different Girls Scouts of NCCP functions that we participate in to help keep our Girls connected with each other and our community.  Yet, it isn’t that often where it is something that we can involve both the Girls and their Families.  So, what better time to bring everyone together than Thanksgiving?

Our Troop Thanksgiving Dinner is potluck style and we ask each family to bring their favorite Thanksgiving dish.  We are never disappointed with the willingness of our parents to participate.  This year we even had one of the families donate a full sized Turkey for the dinner.  It was amazing!  Thanks to our parents our Dinner Menu included Turkey, Ham, Mac & Cheese, homemade Cranberry Sauce, Pasta Salad, Deviled Eggs and for dessert some delicious Chocolate Cupcakes.

As the parents began to arrive and help set up they begin to chat, exchange greetings and simply create a bond from one parent to another.  This is also one of the goals for having a Family Style Troop Thanksgiving Dinner.  We want our Troop to feel like family and that includes allowing the opportunity for the parents to meet and create a friendship with one another.

This year’s Troop Thanksgiving Dinner was a great success and despite a lot of changes being faced as a Troop this year we are happy that we can maintain the support and friendship we have with our Girls and their Families.  By creating a sense of togetherness as a Troop we hope to raise and keep our morale high and motivated for the upcoming year.
