The First Annual Strawberry Festival at the Dirtbag Ales Farmers Market is a family event to celebrate the bounty of the Sandhills and welcome the beginning of spring. Our goal is to showcase local farmers and producers ingenuity around the amazingly delicious and majestic strawberry. Come out and experience everything Strawberry!
The DBA Farmers Market is meant to be a gathering place where local producers can connect with their community and share their passions. Families can learn from their farmers and begin to connect with how their food is produced. This marketplace welcomes everyone of all ages and backgrounds and encourages them to reconnect with the community they call home.
FAQ
WHY a farmers market at a brewery?
Well, the real question is why not!! Dirtbag Ales Brewery and Taproom have been supporting small local producers for year with seasonal and innovative brew flavors like Cold Brew Mocha Porter featuring locally roasted coffee from Cumberland Coffee Roasters. They have been a venue for local artists to display and sell their artwork for years. With their success and dedication to being a community gathering place it was only a perfect place to host this new farmers market.
WHAT do I bring and where do I park?
Bring your own bags to the market and fill them to the brim with produce, preserves, meats, and artisan goods. Bring a football or soccer ball to kick around with the kids or a tennis ball for your pup! There is plenty of greenspace for the whole family to relax and enjoy. There is ample parking just off Corporation drive in front of the Taproom as well as additional parking on the northeast side of the building. Also, no cash on market day, no problem! Most of our vendors accept card charge via Square or other remote processing equipment.
WHEN is The Strawberry Festival?
The Strawberry Festival will be held on the opening two days of the farmers market, April 15th and April 22nd. The market will then be open every Sunday from 10am – 1 pm until October 28th. Except Mother’s Day and Father’s Day (May 13th, June 17th).
WHERE is the Farmers Market held?
The DBA Farmers Market will be held at the brand new Dirtbag Ales Facility located at 5423 Corporation Drive in Hope Mills. The new facility features an expanded taproom, outdoor green spaces, kids playground, and dog park. Bring the whole family out for a full day of fun.
HOW can I find out what vendors will be at the market?
Follow us on Facebook or @Instagram to learn about what’s happening each week at the market. This will detail which vendors will be in attendance and what they’ll be bringing along. Each week there will be a new community partner vendor and food truck at the market. Find out more at Sustainable Sandhills or Dirtbag Ales.
WHAT kinds of produce will be available at the market?
The DBA Farmers Market is committed to bringing sustainably grown and raised products to our community weekly. All farms have been thoroughly vetted by Sustainable Sandhills staff to comply with all County, State, and Federal production, packaging, and storage regulations. All vendors have committed to using only sustainable and safe growing practices. Some have also received third party certifications for their best practices. For more information about each individual vendor’s practice, ask your farmer!. Learn directly from the producers how your products are grown and maybe even volunteer with your farmer for a day!
WHO can become a vendor or community partner?
“Local” for us means produced within a 50 mile radius of the market. This market is a place where local food lovers can gather and engage with the local food economy. Producers can create strong relationships with their customers and you can enjoy a local brew while you’re at it. Local community organizations and business are encouraged to reach out to become one of our weekly community partner vendors, any and all are welcome. Bring your dog and a soccer ball to enjoy a gorgeous day out with the family while stocking on your weekly groceries and enjoy an outdoor picnic.
