Setting up your Facebook Page the right way can be a great way to set up for success for your business and your brand. Your Facebook page is the doorway for people to get to know you, your brand and what you have to offer as a business. Your Page should guide followers where you want them to be and to what you need them to see.
Order Matters
Did you know you can select the Template of Page as well as the Order of Setup for the tabs on your page?
Facebook gives several options for Page Templates:
The fact that Facebook offers options like this proves design and set up matter. Facebook also allows you to customize your Tab order for what fits your audience best. If you know your followers are visiting to shop then placing your Shop Tab first makes sense BUT if your followers are there to see your content then placing your Post Tab first would be the better choice.
Have you ever visited a Facebook page and scrolled so long you forget why you’re there? I have and it wasn’t fun – it was actually a bit annoying. Most times I click away and don’t return.
You want each visit to your page to give the very best first impression possible. Ordering your tabs to fit your business and your audiences is a great way to set up for success!
Keep It Simple
Another tip about setting up your Facebook Page is less is more. Unless it is essential to your business you don’t want to overload your page with too many tab options. Sometimes less is more! Stick to the basics and build your tab content based on the needs of your business.
I’m going to give a few suggestions that will work for most pages.
Starter Tabs
About – tells visitors what your Page and Business are about. Gives a quick idea at what they can expect from following you. You get to craft this section yourself within the Settings section of your Facebook Page.
Posts – this is the content you ‘post’ to Facebook. This can include shares from other Pages as well as content you load directly to your page from a website, blog, Live video, etc.
Reviews – this is where other people can share how they feel about your page and your business. I think this is a great tab to include on your page because it can establish credibility in your field.
Community – this shows the people who currently follow your page. Believe it or not seeing people they know follow a page can sometimes encourage others to follow as well.
Services and/or Shop – these tabs are perfect when you offer paid services or products as a part of your business. It allows you to showcase them right on your Facebook Page including price and service/product description.
Photos – this tab shares the photos you load directly to your page. If you are huge on imagery for your branding and promotions this is a great place to keep them visible to followers.
Videos – this is great if your create video content to support your brand or business. You can set Featured Videos and create albums based on the video themes and content.
