This week for #AskAwayFriday I have another amazing swap buddy in Rabiafrom The Lieber Family. When I went to Rabia’sBlog I immediately knew she was a woman who’s family means everything to her. Β The Lieber Family is a place where Rabiashares the moments, memories and love she creates with her family. Β Rabiais a mom to 3 adorable children and they are front and center in everything she does. Β Trust me and take a moment today and go visit The Lieber Family…
Rabiasent me over some really great and interesting questions for this week. Β She even included a few Thanksgiving questions…
1. We just celebrated Thanksgiving. What is your favorite holiday and why? Do you have a special tradition for that holiday?
I still can’t believe Thanksgiving is over and we are on our way towards Christmas. Β Time flies so quickly at times. Β My favorite holiday is truly any Holiday that gives me extra moments and memories with my family. Β I love Christmas because of the decorations and the general Spirit of the Season. Β Christmas is so much more than a time to give or receive but a time to truly take a moment to see what your Blessings are and how one man’s ultimate sacrifice helped make them possible. Β For me Christmas is the best of both worlds: My Faith and My Family.
2. Today is Black Friday. Are you out shopping til you drop or stay home to recover from all the eating on Thanksgiving?
Oh My Goodness! Β Today will be my very FIRST Black Friday Shopping experience! Β I am so nervous! Β I don’t like crowds and I am not a very outspoken person (it takes a lot to get me angry) so I just hope I don’t get bullied (I’ve heard some crazy Black Friday stories) and that I actually find everything I’m out there to get. Β
Hubby is determined to take full advantage of the Black Friday savings and I have been drafted. Β Yup Drafted! Β I in no way volunteered for the assignment but Hubby feels that we can work better if we divide and conquer! Β LOL Β Wish me luck ladies! Β
3. You are raising a large family, and one that includes teenagers. One of my least favorite childhood struggles is with lying. Β Do you have that issue? How do you handle it? Do your kids have a “tell” that lets you know they are lying?
Yes. Β I have that issue with my Kiddies and my Teenager. Β I think it is something that every child will experiment with simply to see what they can get away with and how far they can take something before their parents find out the truth. Β
I have always taught my children not only the biblical truths regarding lying but also the life lesson that when someone is a liar and begins to gain the reputation of being that even when you tell the truth it will be a hard sell.
When my Teenager went through a phase where he felt lying was the solution to every ‘sticky’ situation he got into he always ended up in worse trouble as a result of the lie than he would have if the truth of the situation was told at the beginning. Β Once he realized that no matter how bad he thought his consequences would be from doing something adding lying to the matter simply made them worse he began to accept things. Β
He and my younger children still lie on occasion but I know that they realize lying doesn’t truly help any situation be better. Β It may be a temporary hold on consequences they deserve but sooner or later a lie will tell on itself.
All of my Kiddies (including the Teenager) have ‘tells’ … I have a fidgeter, a laugher, a crier and even one who will avoid eye contact at all costs. Β I guess I can count it a blessing that they are very bad liars! Β LOL
4. A holiday weekend always brings out my true self, so tell: Are you an early bird or a night owl? Does that change on the weekends or for the holidays?
I’ve had this debate with myself and the Blog world a few times now (here and here). Β I like that you added a twist to the question by adding what impact a Holiday may have one it. Β
I think on Holidays I tend to be a bit more of a night owl. Β Mainly because I am usually the one staying up late to clean up, cook or prepare for the next day. Β Also, on a Holiday I usually have a bit of extra time in the mornings because my Hubby will get up and make breakfast and play with the Kiddies a bit. Β It may not be more than an extra 30 minutes but to me those times can be priceless… π
5. Β What’s the first thing you do when you wake up each morning? Are weekends different than weekdays?
Okay. Β Don’t laugh. Β I have all my alarms set on my phone. Β The first wakes me up and I usually lay there a bit, do my Social Media (SM) Swoop. Β I have another set for maybe 10 minutes later. Β That’s the one I actually get out of the bed with.
Weekends aren’t that much different. Β I don’t usually use my alarms because my Kiddies get me up soon enough…LOL Β The only difference in a weekend morning is no School Drop-Offs.
6. Do you have any bad habits you are willing to share?
Hmmm….I think it can be rather hard to pin point your own bad habit. Β I used to bite my nails but stopped that sometime in High School when I started getting manicures. Β
Ok I’ve got something! Β I have a tendancy to talk over people. Β It’s not intentional. Β I have the worse short term memory and a lot of times when I get a thought I have to either use it or loose it! Β So there are times when I can be in a conversation and I’ll get a thought concerning what we’re speaking on and without thinking I start sharing it. Β I am consciously trying to stop and be aware. Β I also make a point to hold onto my thought as tight as possible until the other person is done speaking. Β I know how rude it can seem and how much I hate it when other people do it to me.
7. Do you have any playlists made up? Β What are your top 3, go to songs when you listen to music?
I have several Playlist: Car, Kiddies, Love, etc. Β BUT I haven’t been using them lately. Β Hubby is an amazing source of all things music and lately he has been our In House DJ…he simply picks a group of songs and uses a DJ App on his phone and we are set! Β I’ve also abandoned my own Playlists ever since my iPhone update gave me the Radio option. Β I can select a genre of songs or an artist I really like and then iTunes does the rest. Β I’m almost always happy with the options !
8. Tell me your favorite childhood memory.
With the Holidays in mind, my favorite childhood memory would be when my Grandfather would come down for the Holiday in time to take me Christmas Shopping. Β I wasn’t like most kids…I was completely aware who bought my Christmas gifts and from the time I can remember (way before I could write) I would clip pics from magazines and such and make a type of collage Christmas list.
When my Grandfather came it would be just him and I. Β We would go to Toys-R-Us and our favorite Christmas discount store Consumers! It was like an outlet store…you would give them your Item Numbers from this ginormous Catalogue. Β They would send your ‘order’ to the back and then you could stand there and watch your stuff roll up front on a conveyor belt! Β I was so much fun! Β I would stand there holding his hand and slowly see my toys coming around the corner and through a curtain on the belt. Β I would get so excited! Β
After we got everything on my list (yes folks I was very spoiled…but not rotten π ) we would go out to eat at a little Mom&Pop style diner. Β Then he would take me home and I would help my Grandmother wrap my presents. Β I always got to open just one on Christmas Eve. Β I know you may be wondering how I could be surprised when I selected, bought and wrapped my own gifts but I truly was! Β Maybe it wouldn’t be so much surprise as anticipation and excitement…but i was definitely a happy little girl!
9. What’s the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?
Wow! Β I never thought such a simple question would be so difficult to answer. Β I have people do some really great things for me but trying to pin-point just one has had me sitting here for the past 10 minutes or so. Β
I would have to say to qualify an action to be ‘the nicest thing’ would have to mean it was purely motivated, unexpected and perhaps customized to who I am. Β This would let me know that the person took the time to think about me and my likes/dislikes. Β They didn’t simply do something to say they did it. Β
I have had several of these situations and they always left me smiling and happy that person was in my life. Β I simply can pick one and not recognize another as well. Β LOL
10. Β Tis the season for giving and thinking of others. Do you have a favorite charity or non-profit that you support?
I usually give through or to whatever organization my church is supporting during the Holiday. Β Usually they have a collection box where we donated food or toys and they are distributed to families who may not otherwise be able to have them.
I also make a point to donate a new/unused toy to Toys For TotsΒ I don’t think any child should ever have a Christmas where they have absolutely nothing to open.
Didn’t Rabiagive me some really great and Holiday Themed questions? Β I truly enjoyed answering them…now go visit Rabia and check out her answers to my questions.

I also do the same with my alarms! I'm very time-conscious. Ahaha. It's funny how I set mine to 5:45pm for work and then have another one at 6:00pm, 15minutes to just lay in bed and snap back to reality. Hmm so I guess the usual saying "kids never lie.." may not really be applicable to all after all. Hah! π
My recent post This is My December…
Loved the questions and answers! I have had my fun with the bad liars, too! LOL! But my middle one will end up narcing himself out before he has even been caught! Kids are crazy sometimes! That sounds like an awesome memory of your grandpa, I had a few like that with my grandma! Hope you have a great week!
My recent post Turn It Up Tuesdays 12!
Thank You! Rabia came up with some great questions…Yes I have one who definitely give herself up too π I think lasting memories are the best and I hope I am creating some with my Kiddies as well. I hope your week is a great one as well…
I have never black Friday shopped. I did Thanksgiving night for the first time, what a rush!!! LOL. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

I hope you had a successful Black Friday. I have not gone out on Black Friday during the peak hours in years. This year I went to Target on Saturday, but it was just like a normal day. I only wanted to get a sheet set that was on sale. I'm looking forward to what Cyber Monday will have to offer.

It was fun! We didn\’t get the biggest item my Hubby was trying to grab (a 70\” flatscreen…they only had 8 we were number 9!) but we did get some great deals on things for the Kiddies π I totally missed my Target run…I can\’t wait for Cyber Monday…I think that may be more my style π
These were such great answers. I learned so many new things about you! I hope your first Black Friday experience was awesome! xoxo
My recent post Feature Friday- Week 2
Thanks! It was an experience…people can be crazy and go a bit out there for a sale but it was fun because I had it with my Hubby and we had a blast! π
Loved reading more about you! We went out yesterday evening and it was my 2nd Black Friday ever to go out of the house π not much of a shopper.
My recent post #Ask Away Friday
Thank You! I LOVE to shop but the crowds on Black Friday are just a bit TOO overwhelming for my comfort zone…LOL I think I will stick to my last minute run shopping routine…that and Cyber Monday of course! π
I can relate to #6 – I don't want to interrupt but I lose my train of thought so frequently that when I try to wait I usually forget what I was going to say! Hope you are enjoying the holiday weekend with your family!
