My first introduction to the North Carolina Center for Economic Empowerment & Development (NCCEED) was during the launch of their most recent community event – What The Truck – this past summer. I met Events & Promotions Director, Alyssa Hennessy and did a short ‘quick style’ interview to get to know a bit about their purpose and goals for the Fayetteville Community.
Dancing With The Fayetteville Stars
Today I had a chance to learn even more about the passion and push behind CEED and their upcoming Dancing With The Fayetteville Stars event. In its 10th year, this Gala has helped raise close to $1 Million and this year’s Evening In The Emerald City theme is promising to help them reach and surpass that goal – with your help!
Did you know 1 ticket to Dancing With The Fayetteville Stars can give a family in need 1 full week of housing?
That’s right – you read that right – 1 ticket can help take a family off the streets, out of a shelter or even from sleeping in their cars and into safe, clean and comfortable housing. I’d say that in itself is enough to motivate this year’s Dancing With The Fayetteville Stars sales to help make that $1 Million dollar goal easy to reach.
Nothing New
helping the community is nothing new to CEED yet housing isn’t all they do for the people of Fayetteville. CEED has been working for and within the Fayetteville Community for 28 years! Whether you have hit hard times and need help with getting caught up on a few bills or simply want to learn how to take a business dream and make it into a reality the staff of CEED are there for you.
From the initial start in 1990, we have grown as a non-profit organization with three programs; the CEED Business Center, the New Choices Program, and the Training Station. All the programs within CEED serve as a regional resource and advocacy center for women and families, enabling restoration of personal dignity through economic empowerment and development. We are dedicated to helping women and families help themselves and find their own strength to sucCEED! –NCCeed
I think the thing that made the biggest impression on me today is the determination of every person in the CEED office to make sure that people who come t them for help understand that asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness but instead a sign of strength. They in turn offer you the tools you need to move forward and find success in life and business through budgeting, small business classes and one-on-one counseling.
Next week’s event is just one of many ways CEED is working to make certain poverty is not the norm for Fayetteville.
